Lar's 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge
This is Lar's 1969 GTO Judge in "Mayfair Maize" yellow with black interior. Judge's came standard with Pontiac's 400 Ram Air III rated at 366 hp, breathing through twin hood scoops. Lar's car is backed by an optional Turbo Hydra-Matic and 3.73 rear gears.
The Judge package also included a body-fitting rear wing, wild multi-colored side stripes and matching Judge logos, sport suspension, and down-to-business painted Rally II wheels without trim rings. The Endura front bumper (high-density urethane foam) was standard, but the hideaway headlights seen on Lar's Judge were optional.
While trying to come up with a product to market against Plymouth's successful 1968 Road Runner, GM General Manager John Delorean reportedly chose "The Judge" moniker inspired by a skit on the popular TV comedy "Laugh-In"...but to the competition, the car itself was no laughing matter. Hot Rod magazine tested a new 4-speed 1969 Judge and ran a 14.4 quarter mile at 99.55 mph. Optional Ram Air IV engined cars were even quicker.
Production of Judge hardtops for 1969 was 6,725 units.
This one's been with Lars since 2006.
